OSIRIS-REX Presents...Great Balls of Fire!

Great Balls of Fire

Visit the Flandrau Science Center in Tucson, Arizona to investigate asteroids, comets and impacts! Explore the small bodies of the Solar System and find out how they affect Earth and you. View images from past and current space missions to these bodies and what happens when they strike the Earth. The exhibit opens October 1, 2012 and runs to December 31, 2012.

The University of Arizona is leading the next NASA mission to an asteroid – the OSIRIS-REx asteroid sample return mission. We launch in 2016 and return a sample to Earth in 2023. Explore the questions the OSIRIS-REx mission will answer when it visits the asteroid and returns a sample of this ancient material. Could it tell us about origins of the Solar System and life on Earth?

Go on your own trip to space in the immersive Comet and Asteroid Quest.

Closer to home, find out if Hollywood gets the science right or wrong.

Come and join in the mission!
